New details have become known in the case of Quincy Promes` participation in drug trafficking.


The Dutch public prosecutor`s office has charged Surinamese Piet Wortel with smuggling large quantities of cocaine and participating in two criminal networks. It is reported that one of the drug shipments weighing 400 kilograms was stolen in July 2019.


In this regard, the name of the Spartak football player appears in the case. After this drug shipment was stolen, Quincy paid Wortel 250 thousand euros as a fine because he was allegedly involved in its transportation, AD reports.


It is alleged that the theft may also have led to the murder of former footballer Kelvin Maynard. The ex-defender of Volendam and Antwerp was shot dead in Amsterdam in 2019, the criminals escaped. Three suspects were later detained, but none were ultimately brought to justice.


Another person associated with a criminal gang was also killed in Curacao. The police suspect that Wortel was the mastermind of these murders.


Pete`s lawyer claims that his client is not involved in these crimes, does not know the victims and has no relationship with Promes. Quincy Promes? That he paid [Wortel] 250, 000 euros is an unfounded rumor. This was only reported to the Crime Intelligence Unit and received some media coverage. It`s mostly gossip, nothing more, " said Rood van Boom.
