Simona Halep shared her thoughts about returning.
This season, the Romanian returned after being disqualified for doping. She played two matches by live football - the first, in Miami, she lost to Paula Badosa, and during the second, at WTA 125 in Paris, Halep withdrew during the match.


At the end of July, the Romanian reported that she had been suffering from a knee injury for several months.


[Being able to play again] is amazing, I feel like I`m free. I`ve never been to prison - I hope I never will - but many people have told me that I felt like a prisoner. I couldn`t go to someone`s meeting, and that was the hardest thing.


I wanted to watch [Jannik] Sinner`s match in Paris from the stands - but I couldn`t. But what did I do that I can`t come to the match? I think this is too much. When I found freedom, hope returned to me and the light inside me came on again.


I didn`t watch much tennis at that time. It was too painful for me to know that I was disqualified, I couldn`t even play or even come to someone`s match. And I didn`t want to watch tennis on TV - in two years I saw a maximum of 8-10 matches.


[The suspension] was the biggest victory of my life, 100%. This was more important than the Grand Slams, the first line of the ranking. Because it spoke about justice and about me as a person. I`ve always been honest in tennis. Even as a child, if I didn`t do something, I told the coach about it. This is just my position.


Every day I think about [what I want to achieve now]. I analyze my capabilities and what level I can reach. To be honest, I`m in doubt now because I can`t train at full strength due to my [knee] injury.


But my position is that if I come back, I want to be in the top 10. This is just my point of view, that`s how I`ve always been. Perhaps that`s why in the past I reached the first line of the ranking - I always squeezed out the maximum. But now I`m asking the question: can I do it again? Do I have the strength to do this?


I don`t have an answer. But this is my dream if I fully return to tennis.
